Moving On Magazine is an online magazine created by Concert Photographer Sarah Étoile. Moving On focuses on independent and local talent, such as; Artists, Bands, Musicians and Photographers. We cover shows from both The Academy (Port Alberni, BC) and now Candlefish Productions (Nanaimo, BC). Aside from music, we also write movie and television reviews, recipes and "awesome douchebag rants".
My name is Sarah Étoile, and I'm an awkward weird gal, who people tend not to understand that well. I'm in my last year of high school, and I'm planning to go to a Post Secondary School as soon as possible, or at least move out of this town right after I graduate. I'm a freelance photographer, and I'd like to think I'm well known within the borders of Vancouver Island (Though not as much as Peter Gardner and Casey Bennett). I work at Port Alberni's music venue, The Academy and I make guest appearances at Nanaimo's Candlefish Productions, as a photographer. When it comes to photography, I like to focus on Music Photography (Live Concerts and Band Promos) with side projects of portraits within the time between shows. Though Music Photography is mainly male dominate, it's what I like to shoot. Brendan Barlow is a Photographer, Film Maker, Writer, Blogger, and Comedian (Well, that’s a matter of opinion. All of them are really) Brendan Barlow reigns from several places all at once. Born in Nanaimo, raised in Squamish and Port Alberni and now currently residing in the beautiful city of Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a film student with far to much time on his hands, and a vast library of movies in his brain. It becomes hard to keep them all straight. A sucker for self-selling, you can find his work at:

He has a deep love for movies and art. Particularly a fan of horror films both classic and old with names like Rob Zombie, Clive Barker, John Carpenter, and Wes Craven coming to mind first, and titles likes Halloween, Hatchet, Martyrs, Ravenous and Stir of Echoes pulled randomly from many, many favorites. It’s pretty easy to get him talking enthusiastically about movies. Dry, sarcastic and a little on the opinionated side, Brendan also can go off on many a tangent and angry rant about things in the world. So many occur so often that it’s hard to keep track. He does what he can.

My name is Stephen Nicholas Manuel Burton Lozano; I was born in Port Alberni, British Columbia. I have always been an avid reader, and what people would call an old soul. I thoroughly enjoy sitting in an empty room on a large armchair and stay curled up with a book and a cup of tea. Coming from a Mexican background, I believe that my love for food came quite naturally, save for a few tips from my mother. My musical interests range from almost any range of the spectrum, save for anything that involves growling. However, I tend to keep myself entertained in the thick Jazz that runs through my veins. My great grandfather had the unique opportunity to be asked to sing with Bing Crosby, and he did. When I’m alone, most people can find me reading a book, exercising, or singing as loud as I can. I am, in fact, a Jazz singer, just like my great grandfather, not that I can say that I’m in the same calibre as he was. But I perform for large audiences, join groups, and enter competitions from time to time. Not that I win any of them, and if I have, I wouldn’t brag about it because then it makes people who you thought were your friends tell you that you’re a musical narcissist to your face. On a lighter note, I have been writing short stories and novels for the past five or six years, all keeping quite at home in the fantasy department. One day, I plan on releasing my novels to the world. But at this particular moment, I'm quite at home just writing my novels alone on my bed, save for my dog. I also plan on co-writing a novel one day. Despite what you may have deduced from reading my autobiography, you may find it funny to believe that I am planning on enrolling in the medical programs at McGill University, Queens University, or the University of Toronto. My greatest dream is to be a cardiologist, a haematologist, or a diagnostician, just like my grandfather Hector Manuel Lozano, who was so good at diagnosing and helping all who needed it, he had a wing named after him in a university in Tabasco, Mexico, where my mother’s side of the family is from. Unfortunately, I have no recollection of him because he passed away when I was in either the first grade or kindergarten. All in all, I think that I’m quite the normal person, living a normal, quiet life at home, until I have to leave and go my own way, have a wife, a white picket fence, and 2.5 children.
